Violence erupts in Plateau as traditional worshippers clash with Muslim youth

A violent clash between traditional worshippers and Muslim youth in the Shimankar community of Shendam Local Government Area, Plateau State, has left many injured and several houses and business centers burned.
According to LEADERSHIP, the conflict began on Sunday night and escalated into Monday morning.
An anonymous source confirmed the incident, revealing that the violence started when traditional worshippers were passing through the area and a disagreement broke out with some Muslim youth.

The situation quickly spiraled out of control, leading to widespread destruction.
Consequently, residents, including women and children, were seen fleeing the scene while business owners hurriedly closed their shops.
Effort to contact the Chief of Shimankar, Long Menkaat Manu, for his reaction on the incident in his domain could not yield any fruitful result as his mobile phone was switched off.
Also, as of the time of filing this report, spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred, was yet to respond to inquiries about the incident.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of Operation Save Haven (OPSH), Major Samson Zhakom, when contacted at press time, promised to communicate with the relevant authorities on the matter and get back to our correspondent.
