NASU issues 7-day ultimatum to WAEC, threatens nationwide shutdown

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) has given the management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) a seven-day ultimatum to address its four-point demand concerning workers’ welfare and the alleged victimization of labor leaders.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Monday, NASU General Secretary Prince Peters Adeyemi warned that if their demands were not met, the union would embark on a nationwide shutdown of all WAEC offices starting Monday, March 24.
The looming strike threatens to disrupt WAEC’s operations across the country, potentially affecting ongoing and upcoming examinations.
“If the management does not take immediate action, all WAEC offices across the country will be shut down indefinitely,” Adeyemi declared.
The union insisted that its grievances must be urgently addressed to protect the rights and well-being of its members.
