New twist in Rivers crisis as lawmakers drag Chief Judge to DSS

The ongoing political crisis in Rivers State have escalated, with the State House of Assembly urging the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate allegations of age falsification against the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi.
The matter came up during Thursday’s plenary session after the House Leader, Hon. Major Jack, presented certain documents to Speaker Martin Amaewhule.
Following the presentation, Deputy Speaker Hon. Dumle Maol raised concerns, stating, “These documents before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service. Mr. Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice.”
Lawmakers deliberated on the issue and decided to draft a letter to the DSS, requesting a thorough investigation into the claims and a report on the findings.
Commenting on the decision, Speaker Amaewhule noted, “The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the honourable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi. What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect.”
The matter was put to a vote, and the House unanimously agreed to formally request the DSS to look into the allegations
