BREAKING: Rivers Assembly issues 48-hour ultimatum to Fubara over 2025 budget

The political climate in Rivers State has taken a new turn as the State House of Assembly has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Sim Fubara to present the 2025 budget.
The directive was given during a plenary session in Port Harcourt on Monday, with lawmakers insisting on timely submission of the budget for legislative scrutiny and approval.
According to PoliticsNigeria, security operatives, including the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force, took over the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters, the venue for the sitting.
A strong detachment of armed security personnel was seen stationed at strategic points around the Assembly Quarters on Monday morning.
The heightened security comes just days after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Speaker Amaewhule and his colleagues, directing them to resume legislative activities after months of a power struggle over the control of the Assembly.
