Ex NYSC DG Gen Tsiga rushed to hospital after 22 days in bandits captivity

Former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Maharazu Tsiga, has regained his freedom after spending 22 days in the hands of his abductors.

Sources confirmed Tsiga’s release late Friday, noting that he is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed hospital for security reasons.

The kidnappers, reportedly led by a notorious bandit leader known as Babaro, had initially demanded a ransom of N250 million. However, it remains unclear whether any payment was made to secure Tsiga’s release.

As of now, neither government officials nor security agencies, including the Katsina State Police Command, have issued a statement regarding his return.

The abduction occurred on February 6, 2025, when armed assailants stormed Tsiga’s residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State.

During the attack, two individuals were injured, and one of the bandits was accidentally shot dead by a fellow gang member.
