(JUST IN) Ramadan: Sultan confirms sighting of moon

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced that Ramadan will commence on Saturday.
The declaration followed verified reports of the moon’s sighting from various local leaders across the country.
The Sultan encouraged Muslims to begin fasting and dedicate themselves to worship throughout the holy month. He also called on citizens to pray for the nation and its leaders, emphasizing the importance of unity and compassion during this sacred period.
In addition, he urged traders to consider lowering food prices to ease the burden on families during Ramadan and encouraged people to support the less privileged so they too can observe the fast with ease.
