ISWAP terrorists ambush travellers in Borno

Suspected terrorists from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) ambushed a commercial vehicle along the Maiduguri-Banki highway, wounding a passenger and abducting a driver.
Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Mama reported that intelligence sources confirmed the attack happened around 1:15 p.m. on February 27, near the abandoned village of Tufa in Banki Local Government Area.
Bello Abba, the driver of a Toyota Starlet with registration number Adamawa JMT 944 YR, recounted that he was transporting six passengers from Maiduguri to Banki when armed men on motorcycles emerged from the forest and began shooting at his vehicle.

In an effort to evade the attackers, Abba turned the vehicle around and headed back toward Banki town. However, during the assault, a passenger, Mohammed Ali Yaye, 38, from Bama, was shot in the left leg. The assailants also seized another driver, whose identity has yet to be determined.
Troops from Operation Hadin Kai were said to have responded to the incident, but the attackers had already fled the scene.
The wounded passenger received initial treatment at the Primary Health Care Center in Banki before being transferred to the General Hospital in Mora, Cameroon, for further care.
