Tragedy struck during a Friday night vigil at Elyon Paradise Ministry Church in Asagba Ogwashi, Delta State, as armed men stormed the premises, abducting six worshippers and leaving the church’s pastor severely injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants shot the pastor, Apostle Divine Omodia, and gruesomely cut off two of his fingers before escaping with six congregants to an unknown location.

“The pastor was rushed to the hospital, where doctors are battling to save his life. Since the attack, the kidnappers have not contacted anyone for ransom.

“Till today (Sunday), the kidnappers have not called to demand a ranson for the release of the abducted victims since the incident occurred,” a source told Punch.

Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said a rescue team is actively searching for the victims in the surrounding bush.
