APC deputy chairman leads mass defection to PDP in Bauchi

Yunusa Umar, the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has led a mass defection of approximately 7,500 APC members to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Umar, alongside key party officials including APC Youth Leader Yusuf Inuwa Bora and Welfare Secretary Isah Zakaria, officially joined the PDP during a reception organized by the party’s local chairman, Hon. Yusuf Sabo, and the Executive Chairman of Dass LGA, Hon. Mohammed Abubakar Jibo.
At the defection ceremony, Umar praised Governor Bala Mohammed’s people-oriented leadership, stating that it played a crucial role in their decision to switch parties.
“Governor Bala Mohammed’s policies since 2019 have demonstrated a strong commitment to the welfare of the people. Our supporters’ interests are our priority, and we believe the PDP is the best platform to achieve meaningful progress,” Umar stated.
The defectors vowed to rally support for the PDP in future elections, highlighting Governor Mohammed’s developmental achievements as surpassing those under the APC leadership, including during the tenure of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
Hon. Jibo welcomed the new members, assuring them of full integration into the party. He encouraged them to work together in strengthening the PDP’s vision for Dass LGA and Bauchi State as a whole.
