14 die on the spot as tanker, bus collide in Niger

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 14 people lost their lives and six others sustained injuries in a devastating crash on the Lapai-Agaie-Bida Federal Highway in Niger State.
Kumar Tsukwam, the FRSC Sector Commander for Niger State, stated that the accident was caused by speeding and dangerous overtaking.
The collision occurred at 10:59 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025, between Kusobogi and Nami. It involved a Toyota Hiace bus traveling from Minna to Agaie and a DAF tanker en route from Lagos to Kaduna.
According to the FRSC report, the driver of the bus, attempting to overtake another vehicle at high speed, crashed head-on into the oncoming tanker.

The impact claimed 14 lives on the spot, including eight men, five women, and one male child. Six men who sustained serious injuries were transported to the General Hospital in Lapai for urgent treatment. The bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital morgue.
Tsukwam urged motorists to follow traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving, and keep their vehicles in good condition to prevent future accidents.
