Fire ravages Kano community, destroys houses, cattle

A devastating fire engulfed Satigal Community in Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State on Tuesday night, destroying several houses, cattle, and six silos filled with stored grains.
Confirming the incident on Wednesday, Rabiu Ikhalil Kura, the Rano Zonal Information Officer, described the extent of the destruction, stating that the fire left many residents in distress.
“The incident was reported to the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, at his palace.

According to Village Head, Malam Shuaibu Abdu, who led a delegation of community leaders, the fire engulfed the entire residence housing six households, destroying goods, grains, cattle and personal belongings worth millions of naira.
“The midnight inferno was reportedly caused by a cooking fire left unattended by one of the affected families,” the statement said.
The Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umaru, expressed his sympathy to the victims and donated N200,000 to support them.
He also urged the community to exercise caution and ensure that cooking fires are extinguished immediately after use.
“The monarch has promised to report the incident to the Kano State Emergency Relief Management Agency for immediate assistance,” the statement added.
However, when contacted, the Public Relations Officer of Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, said the agency had yet to receive a report from the area.
“We are not aware of the incident as we have not received a report on the incident from the area,” Abdullahi said.
