Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has officially welcomed Senator Shehu Sani and several other political figures into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at a large rally held at Murtala Square on Saturday, the governor assured Shehu Sani and 49 other defectors that they would enjoy equal status and privileges within the party, just like long-standing members.

“There is no difference between someone who joins APC today and another who has been a foundation member for ten years,” the governor stated. “They will enjoy the same rights and privileges.”

He encouraged the new members to inform their supporters that APC remains open to more entrants, emphasizing the party’s broad acceptance due to what he described as its fair leadership at both state and federal levels.

“The APC has come to stay in Kaduna, the North, and Nigeria as a whole,” he said. “In the 2027 elections, the people will vote for APC from top to bottom. At the top, our leader, President Bola Tinubu, will be elected. At the state level, APC will secure victories in gubernatorial, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections, by the grace of God.”

Governor Sani also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development projects across the state, stating that governance transcends political affiliations or religious and ethnic backgrounds.

“Politics is different from governance. We will be fair to all, whether or not they voted for us, because that is the oath of office we swore to uphold,” he added.

The governor acknowledged that leaders are not without faults and urged citizens to hold them accountable.

“Leaders are human and bound to make mistakes. But we must be willing to listen to corrections,” he said, reminding party members that they would ultimately be judged by how they governed the people entrusted to them.

Among the notable figures who defected to the APC were former Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Muktar Ramalan-Yero, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, the 2023 NNPP gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Sani Sha’aban, former PDP senator Danjuma Laah, former PDP National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, and former Nigerian Ambassador to South Korea, Amb. Sule Buba.
