Heavy shooting as security forces gun down 3 robbers in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed that three suspected armed robbers were shot dead during a security operation in the Filin-Dabo village area of Abuja.
The operation, which took place at midnight on Wednesday, was a coordinated effort involving the FCT Police Command, military personnel, and local vigilante groups.
According to SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, officers also recovered weapons and other incriminating items during the raid.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Adeh revealed that the operation was launched in response to a distress call received at 11:50 p.m. by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dei-Dei ‘A’ Division, alerting authorities to an ongoing armed robbery.

She explained that the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in collaboration with operatives from the 102 Battalion, Guards Brigade, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and local vigilantes, quickly mobilized to the location.
“Upon spotting the joint security team, the six-member gang attempted to escape into nearby bushes while launching an ambush on the operatives. However, the security personnel responded with superior firepower, engaging the criminals in a fierce exchange,” the statement read.
Adeh further disclosed that three of the suspects sustained fatal gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at Kubwa General Hospital, while the remaining three are receiving medical treatment.
The operation also led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle with a defaced serial number, three magazines, 19 rounds of 7.62 ammunition, two locally made pistols, knives, a taser, a mobile phone, and charms suspected to be used for fortification.
Commending the security forces for their swift action, the Commissioner of Police emphasized that criminals would find no safe haven in the FCT. He also acknowledged the residents of Filin-Dabo for their cooperation and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
