Court sentences man to death for murder in Rivers

A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has sentenced one Eze Kingsley to death by hanging for the murder of Wagbara David.
The verdict was delivered by Justice Boma Diepiri, who ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The incident occurred on December 7, 2018, at No. 4, Rumumasi Community, along the East-West Road in Port Harcourt. Kingsley, a petroleum tanker conductor, was on trial for three counts, including murder and infliction of grievous bodily harm.

According to court findings, Kingsley fatally stabbed David with a sharp object following an argument. The altercation began after David, a mortuary operator, asked the tanker driver to move his vehicle, which was obstructing his business premises.
Tragically, the attack led to David’s death, which was later confirmed by a doctor at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).
In his ruling, Justice Diepiri sentenced Kingsley to death by hanging, stating that the severity of the crime warranted the maximum penalty. He concluded the judgment by praying for the convict’s soul to rest in peace.
