Renowned Nollywood actor Columbus Irosanga is dead

Veteran Nollywood actor and academic, Columbus Irosanga, widely recognized for his iconic roles as a native doctor in Nigerian films, has passed away.

The sad news was confirmed on Thursday through an emotional Instagram post by fellow Nollywood star, Hilda Dokubo.

“There can’t be a shortage of angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport Rivers State Nollywood,” Dokubo wrote, expressing her grief over the loss.

In her heartfelt tribute, she added, “Our uncle Coli #colu_mbusirisoanga has gone to be with the Lord. Ikoli eh dein na mu.”

Originally from Okrika in Rivers State, Irosanga was not only a celebrated actor but also a respected senior lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt.

His remarkable career featured standout performances in films such as Issakaba (2003) and 7 Kilometre (2015). Irosanga’s contributions to Nollywood earned him several prestigious awards, including Best Actor in a Supporting Role (AMAA), Best Actor in a Drama (City People Entertainment Awards), Most Promising Actor in Nigeria (AMVCA), and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Best of Nollywood Awards).

His passing is a significant loss to both the entertainment and academic communities, where his influence and mentorship touched many lives.

His most notable film roles include Issakaba (2003) and 7 Kilometre (2015).
