Police announce dusk-to-dawn curfew in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has announced the enforcement of a midnight-to-dawn curfew, restricting movement between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m., starting February 7, 2025.
Sources said the decision follows intelligence reports highlighting growing security threats across the state.
Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, stated, “Intelligence reports inundating the Gombe State Police Command point to the rising threats to the safety and security of the citizens in the State. The Command has resolved to curb the menace of these threats and placed restrictions on movements between the hours of 12am to 5am starting from 7th February 2025.”
The police assured residents that the measure aims to safeguard lives and property. “The Command prioritised the safety and security of the citizens and urged members of the public to cooperate with the police in making the state a safe place to thrive,” Abdullahi added.
He further urged parents and guardians to educate their children about the curfew, warning that violations would not be tolerated. “The Command also advised the parents/guardians to caution their wards, as the police will not tolerate any form of violation of this restriction,” Abdullahi emphasized.
