6 killed, others injured in Kano fire outbreaks

The Kano State Fire Service has reported that six people lost their lives in various fire outbreaks across the state throughout January 2025.

According to Kabiru Jaafar, who represented the command’s spokesperson, Saminu Yusuf, six others were injured and rescued during the incidents.

Despite the tragic loss of lives, the service successfully saved properties valued at approximately N1.2 billion.

Jaafar said, “The Fire Service, under the supervision of the Director, Alhaji Sani Anas, in January 2025, received emergency calls from our 29 fire stations across the state in the month under review.”

He added that the command received a total of 56 emergency fire calls leading to 10 rescue calls and seven false alarms.

“I will use this opportunity to draw the attention of the general public to handle fire with care to avoid fire incidents, especially during this harmattan period.

“All motorists are urged to drive with care, as well as abide by traffic laws, especially when travelling on highways to avoid road accidents,” the service added.
