Angry mob sets man ablaze for allegedly beheading woman in Delta

Chaos erupted on Tuesday in the Otor-Owhe community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, as angry youths took justice into their own hands, setting a man ablaze for allegedly beheading a woman.
The suspect, identified as Oghenero, reportedly committed the gruesome act in a bush after the woman allegedly slapped his mother.
According to reports, the incident sparked outrage within the community, leading to mob action against Oghenero.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as tense and chaotic, with attempts by community leaders to restore order proving futile.

Narrating the incident to SaharaReporters, a community source who witnessed the burning, said, “The beheaded woman who was from Emevor and Orogun had allegedly slapped Oghenero’s mother over an argument. Getting home, Oghenero’s mother informed him of what transpired between her and the deceased woman.
“Immediately, Oghenero went straight to the bush and saw the woman farming and beheaded her and brought her head home.
“Reaching home with the head of the woman in a polythene bag, Oghenero was arrested by the local vigilante within the community and was shot in the legs while trying to escape before he was set ablaze by irate youths of the community.”
At the time of this report, the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, had not responded to calls or messages sent to his mobile phone.
