Osimhen files lawsuit against Turkish journalist over assault allegation

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has taken legal action against Turkish journalist Tolga Bozduman, who accused him of assault at an African restaurant two weeks ago. According to PUNCH Sports Extra, the hearing is set to begin today.
Osimhen, currently on loan from Napoli, has been thriving in the Turkish Super Lig, spearheading Galatasaray’s impressive performances in the league and the UEFA Europa League with goals and assists. However, his stellar form was overshadowed by the controversy last week.
Bozduman alleged that the striker assaulted him when he attempted to take photos of the Nigerian star after Galatasaray’s dramatic 3-3 draw against Dynamo Kyiv. Osimhen has strongly denied the accusations, maintaining his innocence.
“I didn’t hit the journalists; they are lying. Why are you flashing your face, you have to ask permission for an interview. I told them they had to delete my photos. If I wanted to hit them, I would have.” he said in a video quoted by Pesindeyiz Galatasaray.

In a new development, radio host Buchi Laba, has said Osimhen is taking legal action against the journalist for defamation and the hearing is expected to start on Monday (today).
According to the Wazobia OAP, Osimhen said, “If I hit him, he’s going to get justice and if he lied, he’s going to get the wrath of the law.”
Osimhen has been in fine form since joining Galatasaray last summer. The Super Eagles star has registered 16 goals and five assists in 21 appearances for the Turkish giants.
