‘Top Boko Haram commander, Abu Iklima captured like chicken’

In a significant victory against insurgency, Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have captured Abu Iklima, a top Boko Haram commander.
Before his capture, Iklima commanded key strongholds in Gaizuwa, also known as Mantari, Gabchari, Kashimiri, and Maimusari, located in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counterterrorism and insurgency expert specializing in the Lake Chad Basin, Iklima’s capture followed the destruction of his enclave by Nigerian forces.

The operation resulted in the deaths of hundreds of Boko Haram fighters, marking a major blow to the group’s activities in the region.
According to the report: “This Abu Iklima, a top commander of Boko Haram, was commanding Gaizuwa, otherwise known as Mantari, Gabchari, Kashimiri, and Maimusari in Bama Local Government Area.
“His enclave was severely destroyed by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, with hundreds of fighters neutralized.
“The man attempted to escape, but he was captured like a chicken.”
