Baby factory : 9 pregnant women rescued in Abuja as Bishop jailed for rape

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued nine pregnant women from a baby factory in Ushafa, a community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by NAPTIP’s spokesperson, Vincent Adekoye, the women were confined in a rented apartment by an unidentified trafficking agent who had recruited them through an online platform.
“The victims were locked up in a rented apartment inside the estate by a yet-to-be-identified suspected trafficking agent after recruiting them through an online platform,” the statement said.
In another development, NAPTIP announced the conviction of Kenneth Duke, a well-known bishop in Abuja, for the rape of a 12-year-old girl.
Justice Adebiyi Osolo of the Federal High Court in Gudu sentenced the 52-year-old clergyman to 20 years in prison without the option of a fine.
