7 bandits gunned down in Katsina

A combined team of security operatives successfully repelled an attack by suspected bandits in Ruwan-Doruwa village, located in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State, neutralizing seven in the process.
This was disclosed by the Katsina State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Aliyu, in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to Aliyu, the operation was launched following a distress call reporting the attack.
“On Jan. 18, at about 9 a.m., a distress call was received at the Dutsin-Ma Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, attacked Ruwan-Doruwa village.
“Upon receipt of the report, the DPO, swiftly in collaboration with the military, DSS, members of the Katsina Security Community Watch Corps, and the vigilante, mobilised and responded to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, which resulted in neutralising seven suspected bandits, while the remaining fled with various degrees of injuries, and abandoned all the suspected rustled animals,” Aliyu said.
The recovered livestock included 61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, one goat, and a dog.
Commending the operatives, the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, praised their courage, professionalism, and swift response. He reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The commissioner further urged members of the public to assist security agencies by providing timely and actionable intelligence to aid efforts in combating crime.
