Police arrest woman for brutal assault on teenage boy in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a woman accused of severely assaulting a teenage boy working in her household.
In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, disclosed that the suspect used heated metal objects to inflict serious injuries on the boy, leaving him with severe burns and other bodily harm.
The shocking incident has sparked outrage among residents and renewed conversations about child abuse and the treatment of domestic workers.
Authorities have assured the public that the suspect will face the full weight of the law.

“On 11/01/2025 at about 1945 hours, the Command received a report that one Abigail Oluwarotimi ‘f’ aged 31 years, heated a metal object in fire and used it to inflict burns on her house help by name Jude Joseph ‘m’ aged 15 years. As a result, the victim sustained injuries on his lap and genitals.
The command said the suspect was promptly arrested, and she confessed to the crime.
She blamed her actions on the allegation that the boy molested her children. The victim is currently receiving treatment.
The statement said the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Umoru Ozigi has shown concern about the development, and has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation.
The command warned the public against taking laws into their hands while emphasising the importance of allowing the law to take its course.
