Mother, son killed in midnight fire at Abuja residence

A tragic fire has claimed the lives of a 24-year-old woman, Jumai Sunday, and her one-and-a-half-year-old son, Nasir Rabiu, in the Kugbo area of Abuja.
The fire broke out on the night of Wednesday, January 8, 2025, while the mother and child were asleep in their home located in the Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory.
Sources say the fire left the victims’ charred remains, which were later discovered by neighbors who arrived to assist after firefighters had extinguished the blaze.

Langyi mentioned that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but investigations are ongoing. “The source of the fire is still unclear, but our team is currently in the area conducting inquiries,” he said.
