Tanker fire engulfs Lagos police station

A fire outbreak from a diesel tanker has destroyed parts of the Okokomaiko Police Station in Lagos State.
The incident occurred when the tanker was discharging diesel into the storage tank of a nearby hotel that shares a boundary with the police station.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the fire began from the engine of the tanker and quickly spread to the vehicle’s storage tank, engulfing nearby areas, including the police station.

One witness, identified as Tolupe, said the driver abandoned the vehicle when the fire intensified. “Most of the policemen serving in the division fled the scene,” he added.
The blaze caused panic as staff from the hotel and police personnel vacated their premises to avoid being trapped.
Authorities have yet to confirm the extent of the damage or if there were any casualties. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but the fire had already spread significantly by the time help arrived.
