Gov Yusuf signs N719.557bn 2025 Kano budget into law

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has officially signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, totaling ₦719,557,417,663, into law.

Initially, the governor presented a proposed budget of ₦549.16 billion to the Kano State Assembly. However, following deliberations, the assembly increased the figure to ₦719.76 billion before its passage.

He explained that the new budget comprises N262,670,660,562.68 for recurrent expenditure, representing 36 per cent, and N457,084,757,200.32 for capital expenditure, representing 64 per cent.

“If you recall, on November 8, 2024, I presented the proposed budget to the State Assembly for their deliberation.

“Today, the 29th of Jumada Thani 1446 after Hijrah, which is equivalent to 31st December 2024 and the last day of the year, I hereby sign the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law,” he said.

“The total expected receipts for 2025 are estimated at N549,160,417,663, of which N85,718,779,890 is to be generated internally (IGR).

“This indicates that the internally generated revenue accounts for approximately 13.8 per cent of the total expected earnings for 2025, with the remaining 86 per cent expected to come from Federation Accounts and capital receipts,” Yusuf added.

The governor stated that the budget, titled Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development, prioritises quality education, access to healthcare services, infrastructure, water and rural development, security, poverty reduction, agriculture, human capital, and economic development.

He commended the House of Assembly members for their commitment and timely deliberation, which facilitated the approval of the budget.
