Okpebholo doing wonders in Edo after 8yrs of MoU govt Oshiomhole

Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has praised Governor Monday Okpebholo’s impactful start in office, describing his first month as a record-setting achievement in the state’s history.

Oshiomhole shared his views on Thursday during a media interaction at his Iyamho residence in Etsako West Local Government Area.

He commended Okpebholo’s swift and pragmatic governance style.

He noted that the new administration had ushered in tangible progress after years of what he described as “rhetoric and MOUs” under the previous leadership.

“For the first time in Edo’s history, we have a governor who began making appointments from his first day in office,” Oshiomhole said. “No time has been wasted. Within a few days, he has made several significant decisions.”

The former governor highlighted Okpebholo’s early focus on critical sectors like justice, health, and basic education. He applauded the governor’s immediate mobilization of contractors back to project sites and his commitment to addressing infrastructural challenges.

““People already know that there is a new Sherriff in town. He is stopping all the bad guys and stopping the bleeding that Edo was going through. It is not a secret that LG Councils were paying huge amounts of money to his predecessor (Obaseki), and he says, “Stop, not while I am here. We want the money to be used to develop the localities.”

“There are a lot of profound decisions he has taken, and as I keep saying, ‘minimum words, maximum wisdom’. What people need after eight years of rhetoric and MOUs is action. Things they can see, things that they can feel. He is already doing eye-mark projects; what people can see.

“I think he has done extremely well. Those working with him, he brings them close. He has collective decision-making processes, not because he cannot do without them, but because he believes that two good heads are better than one. I am very proud of him and I think the people are happy. That is what I get from outside. I am satisfied that we are in safe hands. I can proudly say to Edo people that Edo is now back in safe hands, and that is the hands of Senator Monday Okpebholo,” Oshiomhole said.

Governor Okpebholo, in response, assured residents of even greater progress in 2025. He emphasized that with a new budget and competent team in place, his administration would tackle critical sectors and deliver more development across the state.
