Gov Uba’s aide, Fauziya Buhari-Ado, lists gains of Kaduna school feeding programme

The Special Assistant to the Governor of Kaduna State on the School Feeding Programme, Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, has emphasized the critical role of education in fostering sustainable growth and development in the state.
Dr. Buhari-Ado made this assertion in Kaduna while receiving the “Most Impactful S.A of the Year 2024” award, presented by Kaduna Social Media Connect.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the school feeding initiative across the state’s 23 local government areas, she expressed gratitude to the organizers for recognizing her contributions.
She credited the success of the programme to the support of Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
“The school feeding programme wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering backing of His Excellency,” the statement quoted her as saying.
Highlighting the beneficiaries, Dr. Buhari-Ado noted that the initiative primarily supports children from underprivileged backgrounds, ensuring they have access to quality education.
“Let me state that 80 percent of the beneficiaries of this programme are the children of the most vulnerable in society,” she explained. “These are children that cannot afford to pay for their tuition fees or for their parents to feed them.
“These children are basically brought to school without anything. And His Excellency has ensured that all their needs are met. We believe that if we provide the nutrition and nourishment to these children, it would propel them to achieve their academic endeavors.
“These children are our future—they are the future of Kaduna State and the future of Nigeria. Kaduna and Osun states are currently the only states engaged in the programme,” she added.
The programme, which costs over N4 billion annually, is part of efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children in Kaduna State.
Currently, more than 25,000 children in 51 boarding schools across the state benefit from the initiative.
