Gov Adeleke approves appointment of 2 new traditional rulers in Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has officially approved Prince Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.
The announcement was made by Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, in a statement released on Friday in Osogbo.
The approval followed deliberations at the State Executive Council meeting.
Additionally, Prince Johnson Abikoye was confirmed as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina during the same meeting.

Alimi noted that the governor extended his congratulations to the newly selected traditional rulers, emphasizing that the selection processes adhered to legal requirements.
“The processes of their selections are in line with the Chiefs’ law of Osun State 2002 (Cap 25). All sons and daughters of the two towns are enjoined to cooperate with their new traditional rulers and allow peace and unity to take centre stage,” he stated.
Prince Haastrup’s appointment follows the passing of Oba Adekunle Aromolaran on Sept. 11, 2024, while Prince Abikoye’s confirmation comes after the demise of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on Nov. 19, 2023.
The state government expressed hope that the new leaders will foster development and harmony in their respective communities.
