APC national secretary warns Gov Adeleke aides against inciting violence urges DSS action

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has called for urgent action to address what he described as inflammatory remarks from Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his aides, warning of potential threats to the state’s peace and stability.

In a statement personally signed by him and obtained by PlatinumPost in Abuja on Sunday, Senator Basiru expressed concern over comments attributed to Kazeem Akinleye, the Governor’s Chief of Staff.

He labeled the statements as reckless and an attempt to intimidate opposition members ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.

“Osun people are known for their peaceful disposition and will not succumb to intimidation from a government that has consistently failed to deliver on its promises,” Senator Basiru stated.

He criticized the administration’s approach, suggesting it was driven by a fear of electoral defeat, given what he described as poor performance and a lack of meaningful achievements.

“The intimidating posture of this administration signals a clear fear of electoral judgment, as their incompetence and lackluster performance remain evident to all,” he added.

Senator Basiru also took aim at the government’s perceived neglect of governance, citing its failure to implement youth empowerment programs or address teacher shortages in public schools, despite widespread public calls for action.

He cautioned that no political party has exclusive control over violence and urged the state administration to avoid repeating the unrest that characterized the 2022 and 2023 election periods.

Additionally, he called on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to interrogate Mr. Akinleye over comments allegedly suggesting that citizens must either support Governor Adeleke or leave the state.

“The primary duty of any responsible government is to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens, not instill fear or subject them to intimidation. Osun people will have their say in 2026 and make it abundantly clear that they can distinguish between sincerity and deception,” Senator Basiru concluded.
