FG approves N80bn for construction of 4 new tertiary institutions in Zaria

The Federal Government has initiated the construction of four new institutions in Zaria, Kaduna State, with a budget of N80 billion.

These projects, expected to be completed within 18 months, aim to enhance education and healthcare in the region.

During the groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, Dr. Abbas Tajuddeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives, emphasized the strategic importance of these institutions.

Among them is the Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery, designed to address shortages of nurses and midwives in Kaduna State and across Northern Nigeria.

“The Federal College of Nursing was established to tackle the shortage of healthcare professionals in this region,” Tajuddeen stated.

Other institutions include the Federal College of Education, which aims to train more teachers for the region, the Federal Open University, to provide flexible educational opportunities for workers and residents, and the Federal College of Legal Studies, which will focus on advancing research in legal education.

Tajuddeen expressed gratitude to the Kaduna State Government for providing land for the projects and highlighted their potential to transform education and healthcare in the region.

Earlier on the same day, the speaker attended a groundbreaking event for the reconstruction of the historic 188-year-old Malam Abdulkarim Zaria Central Mosque at the Emir of Zazzau’s palace.
