Senate declares Edo gov Okpebholo’s seat vacant, calls for bye-election

The Senate has officially declared the Edo Central Senatorial seat vacant following the election and inauguration of Monday Okpebholo as the Governor of Edo State in November.
During its plenary session on Wednesday, the Senate urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a bye-election to fill the vacant position.
Okpebholo, who previously represented the Edo Central Senatorial District in the red chamber, vacated his seat upon assuming his new role as governor, creating the need for a replacement.
