Malam Aminu Umar Kofar Mazugal, a civil servant from Kano State’s Dala Local Government Area, has been celebrated for his remarkable act of honesty after returning over $40 million (in equivalent naira) in U.S. dollars left behind at the Abubakar Imam Urology Centre in Kano.

The money belonged to Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, who had inadvertently left it in a bag near the hospital’s parking lot while hurrying to catch a flight. Umar, who was assisting colleagues in clearing the area, found the bag and ensured its safe return to the rightful owner.

Upon realizing his loss, Alhaji Mohammed rushed back to the hospital and was reunited with the bag. Overwhelmed with gratitude, he offered Umar a reward, but the civil servant declined, providing only his phone number as a point of contact.

Dr. Aminu Imam Yola, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, confirmed the incident and praised Umar for his integrity. He added that the hospital management had recommended Umar to the Kano State Hospitals Management Board for special recognition.

Umar’s actions have garnered widespread admiration, serving as a powerful reminder of the value of honesty and integrity in everyday life.
