Son allegedly stabs mother to death in Bayelsa

A tragic incident has unfolded in Elebele Community, located in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, where a 22-year-old man, identified as Godwin, allegedly stabbed his mother to death.
The motive behind the shocking act was his belief that his mother had hindered his destiny and wealth.
According to local residents, Godwin had recently returned to the community after spending several months in Benin City, Edo State.
During his absence, some community members claimed that a pastor had warned his mother about potential danger, advising her not to accept any unusual gifts from her son.

Others reported that Godwin came back with unusual behavior and made claims that a spiritual figure, referred to as “Baba,” had told him that his mother was the one holding back his destiny and wealth.
The tragic event unfolded when Godwin, allegedly consumed by these beliefs, attacked and fatally stabbed his mother.
Upon receiving news of the incident, the Youth President of Elebele Community, Comrade Precious Okala, led a group to the scene.
They found the mother’s lifeless body covered in blood, while Godwin was apprehended by the youths of the community and tied up until authorities arrived.
He said: “We were told that since the boy came back from Benin City, Edo State, he has been behaving in a strange manner. On the fateful day, he was reported to have had a struggle with the mother and stabbed her with a knife in the stomach.
“The boy was heard saying that one “Baba” had told him that the mother is in possession of his destiny and wealth”.
The Spokesman of the State Police Command, ASP Musa Mohammed, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for detailed investigation.
