BREAKING: Ex-Kogi gov Yahaya Bello remanded in Kuje prison over alleged N110b fraud

The immediate past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has been remanded in Kuje prison by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Maitama.
Justice Maryann Anenih issued the remand order on Tuesday, following the dismissal of Bello’s bail application. The court adjourned his trial to February 25, 2025, leaving the embattled former governor in detention pending the outcome of the case.
Bello is facing a 16-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The charges include alleged complicity in a ₦110 billion fraud during his tenure as governor.
Also implicated in the case are two former officials of the Kogi State government, Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, who have been cited as co-defendants in the matter.
The EFCC’s case against Bello has drawn widespread attention, with allegations of financial mismanagement and corruption sparking debates about accountability in governance.
