Wanted Boko Haram suspect nabbed in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended a man identified as Isiah Jafaru, also known as Nabida, who is reportedly a wanted member of the Boko Haram terrorist group.
Jafaru, who is believed to have fled from the Northeast due to intensified military operations, was arrested in Iloro Ekiti following reports of his suspicious behavior in the area.
SC Afolabi Tolulope, the spokesperson for the NSCDC in Ekiti, revealed during a briefing that investigations had identified Jafaru as a high-ranking member of Boko Haram.
According to the command, the suspect relocated to the community after the group scattered under military pressure, with some members now believed to be hiding in various parts of Ekiti State.

The State Commandant, Dr. Sosina Paul, stated that the command’s intelligence and Counter-Terrorism Unit had been tracking the suspect to prevent him from regrouping with others in the state. “The NSCDC is committed to working closely with other security agencies to ensure the safety and peace of Ekiti during this festive season,” Dr. Sosina said.
As part of an ongoing inter-agency collaboration, the NSCDC plans to hand over the suspect to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation.
Dr. Sosina urged residents to remain vigilant and report any individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior to the authorities. He emphasized the need for traditional rulers and landowners to scrutinize activities on their lands, particularly in forested areas that are not easily accessible.
He assured citizens that any reports made to security agencies would be handled confidentially and that the NSCDC would continue to protect the public and critical infrastructure across the state.
