Gunmen assassinate guest in Ogun hotel

A tragic incident occurred at Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Igode, in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, as gunmen assassinated a guest identified as Gideon Ebukwe.
According to a statement by Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, the attack happened on Monday, December 2, 2024. Ebukwe, who was lodging at the hotel, was reportedly shot dead while attempting to escape from the attackers.
Eyewitnesses revealed that Ebukwe had tried to evade the gunmen by breaking into the ceiling of the hotel. However, the assailants caught up with him, shot him, and made away with his belongings.

The Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman, Atobatele Igbosoro, reported the suspected assassination to the police at around 3:30 p.m.
“He said that a group of five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, whose address was currently unknown” she said.
“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.
“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot d3ad, and his belongings were taken
“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo,” she said.
The police public relations officer said that an investigation had commenced to unravel the nature of the crime, if it was cult related.
She said that the case would be transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more discreet investigation.
