Frank Lampard gets new coaching job

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has taken the helm at Coventry City as their new manager. The Championship side announced his appointment on Thursday, confirming a 2½-year deal for the former England international.
Lampard replaces Mark Robins, who was sacked on November 7 after Coventry suffered their seventh defeat in 14 league games. Robins had a storied history with the club, managing them between 2012 and 2013 before returning in 2017.
Under his leadership, Coventry achieved two promotions, rising from League Two to the Championship.
The club came agonizingly close to Premier League promotion in 2023, losing the playoff final to Luton Town on penalties. Robins also guided the team to an FA Cup semifinal last season, where they were defeated by Manchester United, again on penalties.

Lampard takes charge of a Coventry side currently sitting 17th in the Championship table, 10 points adrift of the playoff spots.
“I am delighted that Frank Lampard has agreed to join our club as head coach. Frank cut his teeth in the Championship and knows what is needed in this League to be successful,” Coventry owner Doug King said.
The Chelsea legend last coached in 2023 as interim boss of his former club, which he also managed full time between 2019 and 2021.
He began his coaching career at Derby County in 2018 with a stint at Premier League side Everton between 2022 and 2023.
