 PDP wins all 14 chairmanship 147 councillorship seats in Zamfara

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured total victory in the November 16 local government elections in Zamfara State, securing all 14 chairmanship seats and 147 councillorship positions.

Bala Aliyu, Chairman of the Zamfara Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), announced the results on Sunday in Gusau.

He stated, “Based on the results announced by the Electoral and Returning Officers at different collation centres, at the end of the exercise, 14 candidates of the PDP won the chairmanship positions. The 147 candidates of the same party won all the councillorship positions in the state.”

According to Aliyu, the election was conducted peacefully across the state, with no reported incidents of violence or disruptions.

“We appreciate stakeholders, especially security agencies, media organisations, CSOs, NGOs, as well as political parties,” he said.

He also commended voters for their orderly and peaceful conduct during the exercise, which saw participation from 18 political parties.

The peaceful nature of the election was widely praised, reflecting significant efforts by stakeholders to ensure a credible process.
