NAF airstrikes decimate bandit strongholds in Kaduna neutralise terrorists

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through its Air Component of “Operation Fansan Yamma,” has dismantled a major bandit enclave within Dunya Hill and Batauna Forest in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.

According to Akinboyewa, the targeted airstrikes, conducted on November 12, were part of the ongoing intensified air interdiction efforts in the Northwest, under the operation codenamed “Farautar Mujiya.”

He explained that the affected locations had long been used as sanctuaries by bandit groups due to the area’s dense vegetation and the natural protection offered by a network of caves.

“The aim of the operation was to dismantle these entrenched criminal networks and weaken their operational capacity,” Akinboyewa stated.

He further revealed that the operation was preceded by extensive intelligence gathering, which pinpointed high-value targets, including key logistics hubs and concealed armouries used by the bandits.

The airstrikes, he noted, led to the neutralisation of several bandits and the destruction of large stockpiles of weapons and critical resources.

“Since the commencement of this intensified campaign, credible sources from local communities have confirmed that bandits are on the run, their once-secure enclaves in disarray,” he said.

“In a sign of the operation’s success, multiple reports have emerged detailing the escape and liberation of several kidnap victims, who have managed to regain freedom amidst the chaos inflicted upon their captors.”

Akinboyewa affirmed that NAF would continue its precision airstrikes to incapacitate the criminal groups terrorising the Northwest, providing crucial support to ground forces.

“This sustained effort not only demonstrates the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring peace and security but also provides renewed hope to communities that have long suffered under the threat of banditry,” he added.

He concluded by assuring that further updates on the progress of Operation Farautar Mujiya would be provided in the coming days.
