Nigerian governor declares public holiday

The Ondo State government has announced Friday, November 15, as a public holiday for all public servants, offering residents a chance to prepare for the state’s upcoming governorship election.
This day off, declared by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is intended to allow citizens ample time to travel to their designated polling units and ensure ease of movement across the state’s 18 local government areas.
Femi Ayodele, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, made the announcement on Wednesday, November 13.
He instructed all Accounting Officers to communicate the holiday to staff within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, ensuring that all public servants are informed.
The governorship election is set for Saturday, November 16, with Governor Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking election to a full term.
He faces competition from Agboola Ajayi, a former deputy governor representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and 15 other candidates across various parties.
