Edo Gov Okpebholo sacks Perm Secs others after 24hrs in office

Just a day after taking office, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the newly sworn-in Governor of Edo State, has implemented sweeping changes across the state’s administration.

In a bold move, Okpebholo terminated the appointments of all permanent secretaries recruited from outside the state public service, along with several political appointees.

According to a statement by Fred Itua, the Chief Press Secretary, Governor Okpebholo also ordered the immediate dissolution of all executives of boards, agencies, and parastatals within the Edo State Public Service.

He instructed that all affected individuals hand over government property to the senior-most public officers within their respective departments and agencies.

Senator Okpebholo assumed office on Tuesday, following his victory in the September 21 gubernatorial election, where he ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He emerged victorious against notable candidates, including Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Barr. Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP).
