NAFDAC raids Nasarawa wine shops, seizes over N41m worth of counterfeit products

In a determined effort to protect Nigerian consumers, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently conducted a major raid on wine shops across Mararaba Market, as well as New Nyanya and Masaka in Nasarawa State.
This targeted operation aimed to curb the distribution of counterfeit and adulterated wines and spirits in the area.
According to a statement released by NAFDAC, the agency seized products worth more than N41.2 million during the operation. The seized items include counterfeit wines and spirits that posed potential health risks to unsuspecting consumers.

NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement team is now focused on identifying and apprehending the importers or manufacturers behind these counterfeit beverages.
This investigation seeks to dismantle the networks responsible for introducing these unsafe products into the market.
The agency is calling on Nigerian consumers to be vigilant in identifying suspicious products and to report them to the nearest NAFDAC office.
