Tinubu reappoints NBRDA boss for another 5 year term

President Bola Tinubu has reappointed Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha for another five-year term as Director-General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA).

This announcement was shared in a statement from Toyin Omozuwa, Press Secretary to the NBRDA Director-General, in Abuja on Saturday.

The reappointment notification was delivered through a letter from Secretary to the Government, George Akume, according to the statement.

“Mustapha’s second term is effective from 31st October 2024 and is in line with the provisions of Sections 10 (1) and (3) of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022,” the statement read.

Omozuwa highlighted that experts view this reappointment as a sign of Tinubu’s trust in Mustapha’s leadership and his commitment to advancing innovation to support food security.

He further noted that this second term provides Mustapha the opportunity to complete ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting pharmaceutical production and positioning Nigeria as a leader in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Prof. Mustapha, an expert in Bioinorganic Chemistry, is originally from Dambatta Local Government Area in Kano State.
