Why I wont divorce my wife even if she cheats on me – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 general election, recently shared his steadfast views on commitment and loyalty in marriage, expressing that divorce would never be an option for him, even if faced with infidelity.

Obi made this revelation on The Honest Bunch podcast, hosted by popular comedian and actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, known as Nedu Wazobia.

Discussing his marriage to his wife, Margaret Brownson, Obi highlighted the principles that guide their relationship.

The former Anambra State governor emphasized the importance of unconditional support and fidelity, explaining that he would remain by his wife’s side through any situation, including challenges that might arise from infidelity.

“No matter what my wife does today, I won’t divorce her. I can’t separate from her. I can never. Even if she like let her shoot me, as long as I am alive, she’s my wife,” he affirmed.

“No matter what she does, I won’t marry [someone else]. She’s my wife. Whatever she likes, let her do because what is she going to do that would offend me? What? Maybe have an extramarital affair? It’s her business. It’s not me. They won’t say two of us have an affair. They would say Peter Obi is a very good man who married a woman who is [promiscuous]. That is it!

“You can’t quantify me with the life of my wife or children. No. We have different lifestyles. Even if I’m traveling with my wife, people have seen it. Sometimes we are in the same plane but in different classes.

She is in business class and I’m in economy. Because that suits her and it doesn’t conflict with my interests,” the presidential candidate concluded.

Obi’s comments spark discussions on social media, with many weighing in on his views on loyalty, marriage, and forgiveness.
