Indian Prime Minister set to visit Nigeria

Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India is set to make a landmark visit to Nigeria as part of a strategic effort to deepen India’s ties with African nations.

Scheduled just ahead of the G20 Summit in Brazil on November 18-19, the visit highlights India’s commitment to expanding its engagement in Africa, with a focus on bolstering security and economic partnerships.

India’s engagement with Nigeria is timely and strategic, as the country holds a key position as one of India’s most significant African partners.

Over the years, India and Nigeria have collaborated on various fronts, including defense, military training, and capacity-building initiatives.

India has notably supported the establishment of Nigerian military institutions, underscoring the long-standing defense cooperation between the two countries.

The upcoming visit also follows important dialogues aimed at counter-terrorism and security.

Recently, Indian National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and Nigerian NSA Nuhu Ribadu co-chaired counter-terrorism talks, reinforcing the importance of joint efforts to address global security challenges.

Modi’s visit is expected to open up new avenues for bilateral agreements, strengthening partnerships in key areas such as counter-terrorism, defense, and economic cooperation.

This milestone engagement promises to enhance the collaborative relationship between India and Nigeria, fostering growth, stability, and shared strategic interests in the region.
