Nigerian Army declares 44 soldiers wanted for desertion in Borno

The Nigerian Army has declared 44 soldiers, who were deployed to combat Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno State, as deserters.

These soldiers, posted to the 403 Amphibious Brigade (AMPH BDE) in the Baga community, under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Sector 3, Nigeria, have reportedly been absent without leave since October 31, 2024.

As a measure against their desertion, the Army has frozen the bank accounts of the affected personnel.

A military signal, dated November 1 and signed by Major HO Akoh on behalf of the 403 Amphibious Brigade Commander, stated the soldiers’ status as deserters and warned that they would face serious consequences if apprehended.

“I am to further add you please cause HQ NAFC to freeze their salary account accordingly while you intimate NAIC and NACMP to apprehend them if seen and bring them under military escort for disciplinary action. Please find at Annex A List of soldiers posted in to 403 Amphibious Brigade (Rear).”
