Reps’ member, Abubakar Bichi, bags honorary doctorate degree

A member representing Bichi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, has received an honorary doctorate degree during the 9th convocation ceremony of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma on Saturday.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Armayau Hamisu, announced that Abubakar Bichi was conferred the honorary Doctor of Engineering (honoris causa) in recognition of his dedicated contributions to advancing education in Nigeria.
Prof. Hamisu highlighted some of Abubakar Bichi’s recent initiatives, including his fully funded sponsorship of 21 postgraduate students to study various engineering programmes in Malaysia, alongside support for over 5,000 students from Bichi, who are pursuing their studies in universities and colleges across Nigeria.

He also noted that the lawmaker has contributed several projects to the university, significantly enhancing academic resources and infrastructure.
“My brother, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, Member of the House of Representatives, Bichi Federal Constituency, and Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, has significantly supported the Federal University Dutsin-Ma through his oversight responsibilities, facilitating funding for the construction of three faculties, a library, a female hostel, and an auditorium,” he said.
He continued, “As a mark of appreciation, we have named a large auditorium in his honor, which he will commission following today’s ceremony.”
After inaugurating the 200-seat auditorium named after him, Abubakar assured the university of his commitment to continue working with his colleagues in the National Assembly to advance academic institutions, aiming to raise them to global standards.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, he said:
“Universities in developed countries have effectively utilized similar funding approaches. Nigerian universities should begin to adopt these methods as well.
“I want to assure you that I will continue to carry out the efforts that led to this honor from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, and I aim to improve upon them. I hope you will continue to support me in these efforts.”
The lawmaker was joined at the event by fellow House members from various regions, along with his family, friends, and well-wishers.
