JUST IN Tinubu announces swearing in date of newly appointed ministers

President Bola Tinubu will officially swear in seven newly-appointed ministers on Monday, according to a statement released Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will swear in the new seven ministers tomorrow Monday. The Ministers are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour & Employment; Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu – Minister of State Foreign Affairs,” he stated.

“Others are Dr. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad – Minister of State, Education.”

The Senate confirmed the appointments last week after screening the nominees in Abuja. These ministerial positions come as part of President Tinubu’s recent cabinet reshuffle, prompted by economic challenges and calls for stronger governance.

The President dismissed five ministers, appointed seven new ones, and reassigned portfolios for 10 others. Among the new ministers, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu will serve as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Nentawe Yilwatda as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, taking over from the suspended Betta Edu.

The reshuffle also saw Maigari Dingyadi appointed as Minister of Labour and Employment, Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Idi Maiha as head of the newly established Livestock Development Ministry, Yusuf Ata as the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State, Education.

This cabinet adjustment comes after President Tinubu initially appointed 48 ministers in August 2023, three months into his presidency. However, in response to the public demand for renewed focus on economic challenges, he has taken action to refresh the cabinet’s structure and focus.
