Ex Delta deputy governor is dead

A former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Professor Amos Utuama (SAN), has passed away at the age of 77.

Born on June 5, 1947, Utuama served as Deputy Governor from 2007 to 2015, alongside Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

His career in public service also included serving as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice under Chief James Ibori’s administration.

Reflecting on Utuama’s life, former Governor Ibori shared his heartfelt respect and admiration. “Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, my humble, loyal, and esteemed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. You were my steadfast legal foundation, executing your duties with unwavering commitment. If it were within my power to halt death, I would have done so for you. Farewell, dear Professor.

“May your pure soul rest in eternal peace,” Ibori added, paying tribute to Utuama’s dedication and professionalism.

Just a few months ago, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, celebrated Utuama’s 77th birthday, commending his dedication and loyalty to the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and particularly his impact on Delta Central.
